About Brison Harvey

Professional bio and leadership identity

I began as a student leader advocate in high school while growing up in Garrett County, Maryland. Early on, I became deeply interested in education policy and in how shifting systems can improve outcomes for students. That early curiosity became a calling and continues to shape the way I approach leadership today.

I entered education through the classroom, teaching social studies and AP U.S. History at Lafayette High School. Those years grounded me in the daily work of instruction, student relationships, and the importance of building classrooms where rigor, belonging, and clear expectations work together. My time as a teacher also deepened my belief that meaningful school improvement depends on both excellent instruction and the systems that support it.

From there, my work expanded beyond the classroom into teacher leadership, policy, and statewide advocacy. Through Hope Street Group and the Kentucky State Teacher Fellowship, I worked alongside educators and policymakers to elevate practitioner voice, design stronger systems, and translate policy into practical insight. Later, at the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence, I led communications and engagement work that connected education priorities with broader public understanding and stakeholder action.

I then returned to school-based leadership as a Digital Learning Coach at Jessie Clark Middle School, where I supported teachers through coaching cycles, professional learning, PLC development, and strategic technology integration. That work sharpened my commitment to adult learning, collaborative leadership, and the operational structures that help schools improve consistently over time.

Today, as Administrative Dean at Wellington Elementary School, I serve on the leadership team to strengthen instructional improvement, PBIS implementation, staff support, and school-wide systems. My leadership approach is grounded in the belief that schools thrive when adults are supported well, expectations are clear, and decisions stay centered on what helps students learn, belong, and grow.

I completed principal preparation at the University of Kentucky in 2024 and now hold Kentucky professional certification in instructional leadership. Across every chapter of my career, I have been drawn to work that connects people, systems, and strategy in service of stronger outcomes for students. I am especially interested in leadership opportunities that allow me to shape culture, strengthen teacher capacity, and lead strategic improvement at the school and district level.
